A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR
HPCC Family & Friends,
I don’t need to tell you how serious the Coronavirus is – you’ve all seen the news reports and read articles regarding its contagious nature and how devastating the virus can be. The church leadership has made the decision to cancel, amend or reschedule all activities until the end of March in order to keep our church family healthy. This decision was made faithfully and not fearfully. Our desire is to ensure that those people we care about are safe.
There will be NO worship onsite March 15th, 22nd, and 29th. While saddened that we will not be able to gather physically, we believe the health and safety of our community is a top priority. We have created a YouTube channel and will stream the worship services on these dates. There is no content currently available, but on Sunday mornings you will be able to join the church in a virtual sanctuary. We will need a little (or maybe a lot) of grace as we work through this new technology. Your feedback will be helpful as we step into the world of virtual worship.
There will be no youth group March 15th, 22nd and 29th and the puppet show scheduled for March 29th will take place on a later date.
We will continue with Welcome Table but instead of providing a hot sit-down meal, the teams will make brown bag meals and distribute them outside underneath the portico. Continuing the ministry in this way will help people have food and allow us to remain in contact with the individuals we have come to know through this ministry.
The Clothes Closet will be open during its regular hours, but if anyone comes to the closet exhibiting any signs of sickness we will ask them to leave the building and a volunteer will attempt to get whatever clothing item is needed and bring it to them in their vehicle. For the time being, we feel that this solution allows us to continue faithfully serving our community. We will reevaluate as needed.

The staff will have limited time in the office through the end of March. Please call ahead if you need anything.
It was difficult to make this decision because being together to worship and enjoy fellowship is such an important part of our faith journey, but we know that all of us will be safer if we take advantage of phone calls, Facetime, Skype, and other media to stay in contact with our loved ones and friends. I am available at any time to talk but will limit my onsite visits to critical situations. Although we will probably not be able to go to hospitals, please let the church office know if you experience any health issues.
This is a challenging time for all of us but I truly believe that if we are diligent with our proactive measures we can control the spread of this virus and help minimize its impact on our community and world. Please pray for all of those who are at risk, our medical professionals, and those in decision-making positions.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Middle School and High School Youth Group
Young people today are bombarded with messages from many directions (social media, television, videos, games, etc). Some of those messages are judgmental and negative and leave kids questioning themselves. At Youth Group*, middle school and high school kids are encouraged, valued, and reminded that they are loved! Through meals, service to others, bible study and fun, we celebrate each person’s unique gifts and talents. Contact the church office to learn more about this weekly program and how to get involved.
* Youth Group is a shared ministry between Glen Echo and Highland Park Christian Churches.
